Yasunari Takeshima is a Japanese film and television actor. Born and raised in Kyoto, he became fascinated by acting when he was the lead vocalist in a rock band. After moving to Tokyo, he began his career as a director and playwright for a theatrical troupe. Increasing demands for him as an actor led to work in films and television. Bilingual in English and Japanese, Yasunari established his bona fides as an actor in international projects. He has acted in such notable films as Martin Scorsese's Silence (2016) and YojiroTakita's The Last Recipe: Memory of Giraffe's Tongue (2017). His most recent television project is Shogun (2023) in which he is a member of the main cast. In addition to acting, Yasunari is a translator and script doctor for Japanese language translations of English language scripts.
